How to Reduce Your Environmental Footprint?
The 3R rule (reduce, reuse, recycle) was presented at the G8 Summit in June 2004 with the aim of building a recycling-oriented society and encouraging habits such as responsible consumption. Life on planet Earth depends on the Sun. Energy from the Sun in the form of light is captured by plants, some bacteria and protists, through the wonderful phenomenon of photosynthesis. The captured energy transforms carbon dioxide into organic compounds, such as sugars, and oxygen is produced. When sunlight reaches the Earth's surface, it is partially absorbed and then re-radiated as infrared heat. Most of this heat is absorbed by greenhouse gases that warm the Earth, resulting in a generally warmer climate and higher levels of carbon dioxide, which can threaten our lives and our planet for generations to come. This is why today it is extremely important that we pay attention to the environmental impact generated by our actions. So, how do we do it exactly? Here are some simple ways to live a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle to protect the environment. Among them: reduce, reuse and recycle.

Reduce, reuse and recycle responsibly

  • Reduce: This mainly refers to consuming less (preferring products with less packaging; refilling a water bottle each time instead of buying a new one; choosing family-size containers, etc.) in a more responsible way, but also to reducing our water and energy consumption, since current sources are highly polluting.
  • Reuse: Seeks to extend the life of each product. Most goods can have more than one useful life, either by repairing them or using imagination to give them another use.

  • Recycle: Rescuing a material that is no longer useful and turning it into a new product. The raw material is reincorporated into the cycle to manufacture new products without the need to increase energy expenditure or waste volume.

Household separation is complemented, therefore, by the recycling and reuse of products, responsible consumption, and composting of organic waste. These practices lead to numerous benefits:

Environmental benefits:

  • Healthier cities are achieved.
  • Reduction in the consumption of renewable and non-renewable natural resources destined for industrial production, such as forests, minerals, water, oil and energy.
  • Greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming are reduced.
  • It allows many producing companies to purchase raw materials from the recycling cycle to manufacture new products.
What can we do at Interlogistic to help protect the environment at your facilities? As we have already seen today, the participation of electric vehicles in the market is on the rise. This is mainly due to all the environmental benefits they provide. The same trend can be observed with electric forklifts that use lithium battery technology. As official distributors of the Heli line, we recognize that it is part of our responsibility to lead the change in energy solutions for our sector. Lithium-ion batteries for forklifts provide a variety of efficiency advantages that can offer an excellent return on investment for those in the warehouse and material handling space when properly managed. By not containing highly polluting metals such as cadmium, they are much less aggressive to the environment. In machines such as forklifts, lithium batteries avoid noise pollution, have no acid corrosion and do not emit harmful vapors during the charging process. In addition, lithium batteries maintain their charge for extended periods of time. They only lose around 5% of their charge per month, further reducing environmental impact.
